Ice-bright

We haven’t seen the sun in days. But when it comes back it will be too bright to face.

Fierce and low and white. And the whole of this tilting world

this flat, glinting, patterned world

will tip into its arms.

  1. i’m still following your adventures…
    not intruding with comments…
but this one cannot go past unacknowledged…
in the middle of our smeltering wet season…
you extract treasure from the ore…
i think i like visual poetry better than…
amazing what comes out when you know you should be finishing what you know you should be finishing…
the rest of your life is waiting for you to finish this…
and the rest of us are waiting to read it…
it will seem perfect to us whatever you feel…
and then i can’t wait to look at your book of visual poetry…

  2. yep fifi, it’s pretty cool. the light still surprises me around here. the day i took those photos was so bright i had to squint as i walked down the river towards the harbour. and in the last photo i had to point the camera in the general direction of the sun while i looked the other way, so it was impossible to get a straight horizon. And so strange, to have the sun so white and so low, in the middle of the day. now if it would just come back…

and troppo!!! you’re still here! your little bird is still encouraging me along. i’m glad you like this one – i was very pleased with it. i had that happy glow all sunday afternoon – the one i used to get whenever i finished a poem. thank you for all your kind words. i will finish soon, i must. and a book of visual poetry, i wonder how that would work…
